Natural Pain Relief for Sport Horse Riders

Our unique natural treatment program for riders will reduce, or even eliminate, your pain from injuries or muscle strain. We correct the root cause of your pain and develop a program that will help keep the pain from returning while you continue to ride. And, as your body becomes better balanced, you will find that you are able to use your seat and core more correctly to improve your effectiveness in the saddle.

We treat ALL kinds of pain, especially those typically experienced by riders including:
  • Low back pain
  • Sciatica
  • Tight hip flexor and rotators
  • Shoulder and upper back pain
  • “Barn chore” elbow (lateral epicondylitis)
  • Tendinitis in hands and forearm
  • Acute joint sprains

Individual results vary. No guarantee of specific results is warranted or implied and your results will depend on many factors

Why Our Program Works so
Well for Riders

You riders are tough and you have a LOT to do, so you're not about to let a little nagging pain keep you from riding and competing. But even though you can tolerate the pain, have you considered that you will ride better and be a stronger competitor if you take steps to relieve your pain sooner rather than later?

We Awaken Your Body’s Natural Healing System
The body has an amazing capacity to heal. And the healing happens faster if you start giving it a chance as soon as possible after your injury or the onset of pain. The longer you wait, the more the out of balance patterns become ingrained in the body. We provide the support Your body needs to makes its own anti-inflammatory substances and painkillers.

We Address the Root Cause
Pain is both caused by and causes muscle imbalances. While you may not notice anything, these structural imbalances change your balance and interfere with your ability to use your seat effectively. Our natural therapies allow the body to rebalance itself, relieving pain.

We Balance You so Your Horse Can Stay Balanced
When you are in pain and out of balance, your horse compensates by moving differently underneath you. Again, you may notice at this point, but he develops pain and imbalances that mirror yours. Taking care of yourself helps your horse too!

And the best part…
You can still ride. By incorporating the stretching and condition program, you will use your muscles more effectively to prevent further injury.

How We help Competitive Riders Overcome
Pain and Tightness

Picture
We Go to the Source
We conduct a structural and postural assessment to understand the source of your pain and tightness. Then we either conduct a riding assessment or consult with your trainer to understand how your body structure affects your riding.

We Create Balance
Weekly acupuncture sessions will help relieve pain. With acupuncture we can also stimulate long, weak muscles to tighten and encourage short, tight muscles to relax, creating a balanced structure.

We Maintain the Progress
A program of strengthening and stretching specific to your issues will help your body maintain its new balance, help prevent the return of your pain or tightness, and ensure you have the body strength and flexibility to compete at your desired level.

Common Questions

How can I justify the expense when I spend so much money taking care of my horse?
When you relieve your pain and re-balance your core structure, you will ride more correctly and will not re-create imbalances in your horse every time you ride. So, you will not need to invest in as much health care for your horse.

Does it involve a big time commitment?
First, we can come to you, so you never have to leave the barn. Second, m
ost of our patients are able to get great results with once-weekly visits. We can discuss this in more detail at your free consultation.

I'm really fit, do I need a separate exercise and stretching program?
Using the same muscles in the same way repeatedly creates patterns where some muscles stay too long and weak while other muscles stay too short and strong. When this happens, the muscles cannot work in harmony to keep you balanced and pain free. The only way to create a permanent change in muscle patterns is to stretch the short muscles and strengthen the long muscles.

Does acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture needles are solid and about the thickness of a hair - completely different than a hypodermic needle. There is minimal sensation associated with acupuncture - being bitten by a horsefly is much more painful. Also, watch your horse’s droopy lip and floppy ears - acupuncture is extremely relaxing.

Will I have to keep coming forever?
Most patients experience a lessening of their pain within a few weeks of weekly treatments. After that, many choose to come in for regular maintenance visits. But, our goal is to get you to where you no longer need treatment and will be so happy with your results you’ll send us all your friends and family. The vast majority of patients don’t need long-term maintenance. Once their condition is resolved, it stays that way.

How do I know it’s safe?
Acupuncture has been practiced safely for centuries, and in the hands of an experienced practitioner is virtually risk-free. In addition, we use sterile, single-use, disposable needles as required by law.

Is natural medicine REALLY powerful enough to stop cure my pain?
Natural medicine actually helps your body make more of its own medicine, which is more powerful and potent than any man-made medicine.

How long does it take to see results?
People often feel a shift after the very first treatment. Acupuncture is a very powerful way to stimulate endorphin release, which is the most powerful relaxing substance the body makes.

Are there side-effects?
Generally, there are no side-effects, other than occasional mild bruising (this rarely happens). There are, however, many positive side-effects including increased relaxation, better sleep, and a more positive attitude and outlook.

Will I bleed?
The acupuncture needles do not cause any bleeding whatsoever. Occasionally a drop of blood will appear at the insertion site, upon removal of the needles, and this is easily cleaned with a simple cotton swab.

Is there any risk of infection?
As per federal regulations, all our needles are sterile, single-use, and disposable. There is no risk of getting an infection from the needles. If you have an immune or other condition we should know about, we’ll make sure to cover that with you before treatment.
